Dana Day of Mindfulness
May 21, 2023
May 21, 2023
An enthusiastic group of our members represented Organic Garden Sangha at the Dana Day of Mindfulness with the Beloved Community and Sangha Fair on Sunday, May 21, 2023, at Mile Square Park, Fountain Valley, Orange County.
It was a beautiful day in a beautiful park with hundreds of practitioners from all over Southern California as well as every single monastic from Deer Park Monastery and Sister Chan Kong. We enjoyed a full day of events as listed here (with an impromptu Qigong session thrown in before Walking Meditation). Many of us also worked hard to help set up the main stage and infrastructure as well as our beautiful sangha table and canopy, our sweet (and very popular!) seed planting activity table, and our tea and treats table for the monastics. We were happy to welcome many people to our table and activity, and also enjoyed visiting and meeting with the other sanghas who had tables and offerings. This day was a fundraiser for the building project to expand the monks' living quarters at Deer Park Monastery. That project requires the monastics to raise $800,000! As a community, Organic Garden Sangha has set ourselves a goal of contributing at least $3,000 to that effort. If you would like to make a tax deductible donation to help us reach that goal, click here. |
